Diane Von Furstenberg celebrated, on January 10th, the opening of "Journey of a Dress," an exhibit honoring her famous signature dress she introduced in 1974: 40 years already for this feminine and flattering, dress that fastens with a simple tie at the waist, a dress that is in all fashion books and that became a symbol of women's liberation in the 1970s.
The exhibit at the Wilshire May Company Building is open until April 1st, featuring the designer's favorite dresses from throughout the decades, as well as new, limited edition dresses and exclusive portraits of the designer.
I thought it would be a good idea to honour the iconic wrap dress 40th birthday by wearing a Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress myself. Mine is in woolen fabric, has a geometric print in red, black and white and I love it !.
Diane Von Furstenberg ha celebrato, lo scorso 10 gennaio, l'apertura di "Viaggio di un abito", una mostra che onora il famoso wrap dress che porta la sua firma inconfondibile e che ha ideato nel 1974: 40 anni di questo abito ultra femminile e facile da indossare che si chiude semplicemente con un nodo alla cintura, entrato di diritto nei libri di moda e diventato un simbolo di liberazione femminile negli anni '70.
La mostra presso il Wilshire May Company Bulding è aperta fino all'1 aprile, e si possono trovare gli abiti preferiti dalla stilista nel corso dei decenni, oltre ad una serie di abiti in edizione limitata creati apposta per l'occasione e ritratti esclusivi della designer.
Ho pensato che fosse l'occasione giusta per festeggiare il quarantesimo compleanno dello wrap dress indossando io stessa questo modello iconico di abito di Diane Von Furstenberg. Il mio è in lana, ha una fantasia geometrica nei colori rosso, nero e bianco e io lo adoro !.

The wrap dress was created in Manhattan in the early 1970s, the golden years of Studio 54, from a 26 years old Diane Von Furstenberg. I have to say I would have loved to live in New York and be her age in that period, as I have a real passion for 70s fashion and for disco music. I can imagine a time when everything seemed possible, and if I could time travel I would surely stop to spend a night in Studio 54 !.
Lo wrap dress è stato creato a Manhattan nei primi anni 70, gli anni d'oro dello Studio 54, da una Diane Von Furstenberg allora 26enne e devo dire che avrei amato vivere la New York di quegli anni alla sua età, ho una vera passione per la moda degli anni '70 e per la disco music. Posso immaginare un periodo in cui la creatività era al massimo e, se potessi viaggiare nel tempo, farei sicuramente una fermata per una notte allo Studio 54 a New York !.

I didn't renounce to a statement necklace, but went for a dark grey one, and kept lipstick and nail polish bright red.

I would really like to visit the "Journey of a Dress" exhibit in Los Angeles but for now I can only travel thanks to the internet, where it's easy to find a few shots of this wrap dress celebration. And, of course, I can wear my wrap dress, knowing with a bit of pride that also in it there is a tiny piece of fashion history !.

Mi piacerebbe molto visitare la mostra "Viaggio di un Abito" a Los Angeles ma, per ora, sono riuscita a sbirciarla solo grazie ad internet, dove è facile trovare degli scatti di questa celebrazione del wrap dress. E, ovviamente, posso indossare il mio abito, sapendo, con un pizzico di orgoglio, che anche in esso c'è un pezzettino di storia della moda !.
